Shopping Guide:
Running Socks

It's difficult to believe, but a pair of low-quality running socks can make a pair of high-quality running shoes feel terrible. Most runners think to invest in their shoes, but often forget to put some thought into their socks. While your shoes may be your most important piece of running gear, your socks should be considered your second most important piece of running gear.

Running socks differ from regular, everyday socks in that running socks are designed to protect and support feet during strenuous activity. During such activity, the feet will sweat more than any other part of the body. Keeping that in mind, there are certain and specific features runners should look for when choosing appropriate socks. These features can assist with the prevention of injury, blisters, calluses and even odor.

Sock lengths vary, from No Show (Men's No Show, Women's No Show) to Low Cut (Men's Low Cut, Women's Low Cut) to Quarter length (Men's Quarter, Women's Quarter) to Crew (Men's Crew, Women's Crew). The decision about which length to choose is normally based on personal preference. Whichever length you do choose, it's important to remember to never go without socks. Wearing your shoes without proper socks can lead to various problems and injuries.
