They have a nice fit for my wide foot and high instep. I am overweight and need a good shoe. New Balance is well constructed and comfortable. I have a wide foot and use a custom orthodic. The foot bed of the shoe comes out and my orthodic fit perfectly. If you are just learning about care for a plantar fasciitis condition, this shoe has a great toe box (design in the front) and the roll bar helps to keep the heel stable. I tried them on at a retailer first and the sizing was true to fit for me. Take care of your feet! Be blessed! I broke my right leg, and when I was fitted with my "boot" after surgery, I needed a shoe that had a high enough sole so that my hip wouldn't hurt when I walked. The New Balance WW926 is great! It provides plenty of support, handles my orthotic well, and was comfortable within two days of wearing it. Pretty soon I'll be breaking in the other shoe, but I don't think it will be a problem at all. Because I have health issues and problems with my feet, it is necessary for me to buy supportive shoes that are not usually fashionable. I recently have found Zappos.com and was surprised to see 5 1/2 double wides listed. I figured when I tried to order I would be told that size was not available. That did not happen. I ordered several pairs of shoes for a trip to Europe, and these were the ones I decided on because they were so comfortable from the moment I put them on. I always take several pairs of walking shoes on a trip so I can change out as my feet start to hurt, but my feet did not hurt at all in these, and I only changed shoes if I needed something dressier. I have worn New Balance 843 for years, but it was not available in black. I'm really glad, because this shoe is even more comfortable than the 843. After several knee surgeries and years of chronic lower back pain, my chiropractor suggested a New Balance shoe for walking - numbered at least 800. After reviewing the other comments about many shoes on Zappos.com, I selected the 926. I am pleased with this choice, although the heel on one shoe slips a little. I ordered 9.5 N. I will wear a thicker sock on the foot with heel slippage. No more back pain, much better posture and can walk at a faster pace. I have to wear custom orthotics due to plantar fasciitis, and I always had to buy wide shoes to accommodate them. That was a problem since I have narrow heels. These shoes have wide, deep toes, but the heel area is not wide. There is plenty of room for my orthotic and I can even put the padded insole back in on top for added cushioning. Well, in this case that statement is simply not true. I was literally in tears after wearing these shoes for only four hours. I have a large bunion on my left foot which was irritated horribly by these shoes and I have a painful heel spur on my right heel that was not feeling any relief after trying these shoes, despite my doctor promising me that this particular style of New Balance Walking Shoe would bring me relief from my chronic pain. I cannot seem to find a shoe that works for me that I can wear all day long. If NB doesn't work for me, what will? I'm open to any readers of this review who may have some suggestions for me that might work. That said, Zappos is still the best shoe business out there and I have no issues with their service at all. They are the best. I had just gotten back from the podiatrist with diagnosis of several foot problems – morton’s neuroma, falling arch, and pronation - and went through the recommendations on the New Balance shoe and found that the WW926 made from the SL-2 last would be helpful for all three of those problems. SO I ordered. Typically I have had trouble finding my size shoes in comfortable styles locally, so didn't bother to even try local stores. Next day they arrived. Great shoes! Very good cushioning (firm yet “gives” a little). Supportive arch, nice wide toe box for the morton's problem, and a very nice fitting snug heel. They also have a nice roll forward effect when you walk that keeps your foot in line without rolling side to side. They are a bit heavy looking as I have big feet (size 41), but look like they will last a long time. If I don't look at my feet when I walk though, I think that I'm in heaven. Zappos’ phone help was very helpful, I will order again when I can save up to buy another pair. Fast delivery - express at no extra charge was wonderful. Thank you! The shoes were 1/2 size longer and wider than my usual shoes. They fit my foot perfectly. The only thing I wish the shoe had was more of an arch support. They will be good walking shoes for me.
