Very comfortable for my feet, plagued as they are with bunions and weak ankles. They are relatively light for the amount of support they give. I'm a "young" 40yr old that plays on concrete nearly every day, weighing in at nearly 240. Adidas and Reebok don't work for me; my knees suffer in those shoes from all the pounding. Only the very high priced Nike's suit my punishing needs. I don't like paying those prices, but I have to just to not suffer. I tried these NB 888 to save some money since I heard that NB makes the best running shoe for heavy guys. The 888 is a great "value" shoe, almost measuring up to the high-dollar Nikes in comfort, support and impact protection. The lateral support in the fore-foot isn't as good, but the high ankle support is excellent and helps offset that. (Besides, I'm getting older and can't cut as quickly as I used to anyway). The soles' impact protection broke down somewhat before the Nike. As far as comfort, these feel "squishier" than the Nikes. Since Nike sizing is different than everyone else's shoe, you have to order NB in a half size larger than your Nike for the same feel. Overall, a great value - perhaps 8/10ths as good as the high dollar Nikes I've been buying for less than 7/10ths the price. I have wide feet and where I live; it seems all the retailers don't believe in carrying wide widths. A punch of pussy foots where I live I guess....! Maybe people don't actually realize that they might have wide feet. I know I didn't for quite some time. Regardless, it seems I found a great shoe for a decent price. So far I like 'em and am still breaking them in and feel pretty good so far. Kind if lacking in the arched area, but I have a high arch, so some inserts should work out there. So far NO complaints! I bought them because they are the only all black leather high tops I could find in my size (16). They fit very snug and firm especially in the toes, and if you are sprinting up and down a basketball court that is probably a good thing, but if you are wearing them all day they get a little tight in the toes. I bought these as a comfortable work shoe. I need all leather for safety and all black for company. The problem is the mid section is nylon with a lot of vent holes. I am exposed to wet environmental conditions and to hazardous chemicals so instead of the leather keeping water out, the vents let water and chemicals in, then trap them inside with my foot. Not something to wear outside on a rainy day. Like I said before, probably a great basketball only shoe, but for an all purpose shoe I wish I had looked a little closer at the pictures online before purchasing. My feet are a true problem for me. I have a small wide foot and these new balance shoes fit me perfectly. I have developed heel spurs as a result of my injury. I purchased these shoes to referee basketball and I can honestly say they have been a god sent. I can actually run with very little pain. I would recommend these shoes to anyone with heel problems. What I really like about this and all New Balance shoes, they are really comfortable and durable. These are a bargain for the price compared to other brand names. The BB888 gives me the lateral support when I catch a pickup game or 2 a week. I tend to do a lot in my workout, weights, 1 mile jog, basketball, 1 mile cycling.
