I have them in brown and I wore a hole into a black pair that I bought a year or so ago! They are relatively flexible, which is a key priority for me, and they easily become more flexible after a few wearings. I wear these to work, and I have been known to wear them right into the gym afterwards. I gave them a 4 in comfort because they are not the best thing to be wearing while running, but if you forget your gym shoes, these will totally suffice in a pinch. I pulled out the lining and used these with orthotics and an ankle brace, with no problems, and without having to go up a size. I was surprised by the hard inner sole and mediocre arch support, but trusted the brand instead of myself and wore it outside so couldn't return it. Don't like the ugly shiny plastic on the back. Added a full Dr. Scholl's arch support and cushioning which helped the feel – inside at least. Clumpy walking, no ease or grace. A wide foot might love this shoe. Maybe I got a badly made pair, other reviewers love it. I don't enjoy walking when I wear them at all, BUT there's no foot pain, just not graceful-feeling. My orthotics fit with the inner liner removed. I live in NYC and they are perfect for times when I need to be comfortable but do not want to wear my running shoes. New Balance is great for a larger toe box and accommodating orthotics. Unbelievable. Zappos is always fast, but this has broken a record. Plus, the shoes are great. My foot is difficult to fit (read: big and wide!), and it seems that size 11 is a challenging size, with lots of variation between brands and styles--some are too small, some too big. So I was glad that this one is "just right"! I had tried to order the D width but it wasn't available...and it turns out the B width is fine. Plenty of room for my big feet! The arch support is a little lacking, but inserts will help with that. I immediately wore them for a two mile walk with the dog, with no problem at all. The look is unremarkable--certainly no one will stop you on the street to comment--but it's basically just a tennis shoe after all!
