This shoe is the "bee’s knees" for all your motion control running/walking needs... if you have flat feet then this shoe will help control your foot-strike in a jiffy. Having a good fit, being comfortable and providing arch support has always been essential in selecting shoes. The Addiction 7 provides all these ingredients and it looks great! In recent years I've had to factor in being diabetic, so the fit and comfort criteria have become a medical necessity. I switched from a different brand of athletic shoes a few years ago after buying my first pair of Brooks shoes. That first pair is well worn but still in service. Now I have these Addiction 7's and a pair of Addiction Walkers. Considering how great the Addiction 7's look I intend to use them for dressy casual situations. I've got three pairs of great Brooks shoes for three different types of situations - Upscale casual, exercising/jogging, and everyday bumming around. Brooks makes great shoes and because of my arches, the wide width and the diabetes I can't afford to be "casual" with my feet even in a casual shoe. We originally went to a shoe store and fortunately they did not have the correct width in stock, so I was able to get them from Zappos, and I might mention that they were $25 cheaper and I got them the next day. I tried this shoe out based on all the reviews and good things people wrote about it. The only thing I liked about the shoes were the color. They felt fine on the treadmill. My first running section outside I developed shin splints within 1 mile and also my left ankle started hurting. I didn't finish that run. My next run outside, the same thing happened and my ankle swelled. Not enough arch support either. I switched back to my old shoes. I love them, but then again, I also love the Addiction series. I started off on Addiction 5, wore those out and then bought a couple of Addiction 6s and wore them out as well. I've worn out a pair of Addiction 7s, almost wore out a second pair and now these are my third pair. I bought all those from Zappos btw. I'm a big guy with flat feet and these shoes provide just the right amount of support and comfort. The 7s are by far the best of the series. They're a bit stiff, but I'm an overpronator so a cushion shoe isn't for me. I was very happy with the look and fit. After about three months, a seam at the left toe started to unravel. I sent an email to Zappos customer support and they replied that a replacement pair was on the way. They arrived the next day along with a pre-paid shipping label for the old pair. Brooks is one of the few companies that even make narrow widths. I think the fit and construction is very good. I would recommend them even if you don't have a foot that's difficult to fit. I bought a size 9 at first. It felt small so they let me exchange it for a bigger size, but the same narrow width. I was very pleased with the service from Zappos. They're a first class outfit.
