I also lift 3 days/week. This combination keeps my body mass proportioned such that I always weigh in the 185-190lb range. I have found that this pushes me into the need for a higher cushion, motion control type of running shoes or else I suffer significant heel pain. I have had success with other Asics MC shoes, and decided to give this model a try. I have been running in them for about 3 weeks now, and so far I would say they are the best pair of the hundreds of shoes I have worn throughout the years!! I'm considered a big runner (6'1" 210lbs), and have feet as flat as plywood. I run 2.5 miles daily on a treadmill, and occasionally run 5 miles outdoors. My first shoe was an Asics 2120. I really liked them, but I broke those down in a few months. I got these a month ago and have found them to be less comfortable than the 2120, but take my abuse a bit better. I guess that's the trade off with owning motion-control shoes. I'd recommend it to others, but I'll try something different for my next shoe. Specifically the arches, though the pain was felt completely across the underside of my foot. Any cardio that wasn't done on a bike or elliptical would basically guarantee my feet hurting in the end. I could never get any of the aerobic benefits b/c my feet would hurt long before I tired. These shoes definitely fixed that. I always thought a running shoe was a running shoe. I had no idea that there were shoes designed for all different types of gait. If you're an overpronator (as I found myself to be), these shoes will work wonders. They're definitely not the most beautiful, but if you're anything like me, you just want something that keeps your feet from hurting. These definitely do the job. The Beast feels like a stability type shoe and has better cushion and arch support, but even in a 4E is a little narrow for me. The Foundation 7 does not have much cushion in the forefoot but does have a bigger toe box in the 4E. I do trail runs that are 50 milers and both shoes give me great support. I bought it after doing lot of research and found it to be worth the hard work. It does its job on pronation control very effectively. The thing I am not totally satisfies is with the looks.
