I work as a nurse in a hospital and the ankle, arch support have been good. No complaints there. The sole is great too, especially when accidentally finding a wet floor. Traction is great. This is why I wear tennis shoes to work. I clean them with what I am sure is not an approved cleaner for these shoes, which is a type of kill all solution, so I am sure that that has shorted their life span. However the only part of the shoe that I notice wearing out is the outer part of the shoe where I have applied the aforementioned cleaner. Breathability is lacking a bit but is not too troublesome. Style is not all that I like...I am looking at a pair of more trendy Vintage styled Pumas. However, like I said…good shoe for the money and my purposes. I have to wear men's shoes as a lady’s 12 is too small. I find that New Balance is usually a size bigger than your actual foot size. So if your foot measures 10, get an 11 and you'll be happy. Lots of toe room to prevent jamming. I have low arches, yet I don't feel the need to wear my arch supports with these sneakers when on the courts. The shoes (the normal width version) are roomy enough to accommodate ankle braces, and they are especially roomy in the forefoot, which is great for preventing bunions and blisters. The only reason I give them a 4 out of 5 overall stars is because they feel slightly larger, or wider, than marked. I have to lace them up tighter in order to feel a good fit. I could remedy this by wearing an extra pair of socks. I ordered these New Balance shoes for my husband, who would walk around bare foot if I didn't buy him shoes. I bought his usual size, 12, and they fit him perfectly. They look great on him, and he was very happy and well pleased with the looks. The white goes with everything, but there's enough detail and styling on the shoe to give it some "oomph". We had never tried New Balance before, but when Don put them on, he was immediately surrounded in support and comfort. They're true to size. It's a very attractive shoe for men of all ages. New Balance D width feels right - I really think the other guy's D widths are getting narrower. Great cushion in the heel without being 'squishy'.
