A decent color combo in my favorite shoes - As an athlete with big feet, it has always been such a bummer to have to wear huge shoes that are always some combination of bright white and orange with a purple swoosh. Ya always look like Bozo coming down the street. At last I can enjoy the comfort and support of my favorite running shoes all day long because they finally come in colors that you want to put on and wear with street clothes, including black and silver. Excellent support, they accommodate orthotics nicely and feel great running or walking. My last three pairs of shoes were NB 991, 992 and 992. I thought I might try these Asics, but I was disappointed. On the first runs I wore them on, my right foot went numb about 1 ½ miles into a 6 mile run, my left foot was fine, but not as comfortable as when I wore NB 992s. I thought they just might need to be broken in better. I continued to wear them for approximately six 6 mile runs. My right foot continued to go numb each time I got about 1 ½ miles into the run. It was the most annoying feeling ever; I simply could not have a good run with my right foot completely numb. I tried re-lacing the shoe over and over, looser, tighter, in-between...did not work. I have worn nimbuses now for a few years, and I have been happy with all of them. I have now had two pairs of the 9's, and they have both been fantastic. I bought the first pair and ran a 15k in them fresh out of the box (which I know is dumb) but they felt like I had been wearing them for years. They feel true to size based on other asics (that is, as in most sneakers and other asics, I wear a size larger than my street shoes.) This is the first pair in years that I should go back ½ a size. And they seem to fit very well. Did seem tight at first, but just had to lace up for my foot. Overall, a good shoe I think. I am a 6'3" 200lb runner with a size 14 foot. I suponate or underpronate when I run and was looking for a shoe that had max cushion and black hardened rubber on the outside of the forefoot to withstand the pounding. It's a good shoe, but not a great shoe for the money. I will be sending these back under Zappos’ generous return policy. If you do want a pair, consider ordering the extra wide if you have a foot of average width. I ordered in the average width and if I wanted the shoes, I would reorder in the extra wide as the regular width is very tight. I ordered the Gel-Nimbus 9 after reading it was designed for runners that do not absorb shock naturally. These shoes are great. Granted they won't make you feel like an Olympic runner, but I can definitely tell a difference over any other brand that I have tried. I would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone needing a shoe with good support and shock absorbing. And just as promised Zappos got them to me next day, thanks! I got these to replace my Mizuno Wave Rider 9's. These are much more comfortable and pain free than the Mizunos. I supinate a little bit and these shoes seem to make my landings where it should be. I like the design and color but I prefer the Orange pair of the Nimbus VIII's. Looks and feels like a well built running shoe. This is my 1st. pair of Asics and I hope I get a lot miles out of them compared to the Mizunos. One minor thing— I wish it came with a slightly longer pair of laces. Other than that I still give this pair a 5 star rating. Definitely worth the $$$. A really cool thing about them is that as you walk, you can feel cool air at the top of your foot coming through the mesh of the shoe. This keeps your feet from getting too hot. The cushioning is amazing as well and they are extremely lightweight. Overall, these shoes are well worth your money for running, walking, or just regular lifestyle.
