Other that that, great shoe. 2009-09-07 06:10:58 Spira Stinger Reviewer: Dean Tahtinen, PT from Northern Michigan Overall: After 5 knee surgeries and most of my the cartilage being removed, I had given up running. These shoes have allowed me to run a 5K road race without knee pain. I tell people it is like running barefoot (because they are so light), on clouds (because of the springs). Other shoes recommended by reviewer: The next pair I get will be the Spira Competitions with the forefoot and heel springs. 2009-09-04 14:41:59 Spira Stinger Reviewer: Anonymous from Buffalo Grove, IL Overall: Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Excellent arch support Amazing! These shoes are amazing! The first time I wore them to my softball game, I went 4 for 4 with 2 home runs, a double and a single that was a shot, harder than any ball I hit that day. I wish my coach would keep our stats, at least mine anyway. While I don't actually wear these shoes during the game, they're good luck and really light too, now I know how my teammate Kevin feels. Also, I've enclosed an extra dollar because I don't believe in paying anything less than three digits for shoes. You should see my Mercedes! These could probably be the lightest running shoes, or any shoes for that matter, that I've ever worn by far! I had to run in them the minute I got home. Excellent cushioning from despite its lightweight persona. From performance to function to fit, it was all good. Shockingly my knees, calves, ankles, arches and the balls of my feet weren't a painful mess. Even more so, I was surprised that I wasn't as tired as usual and felt I could do another mile. And the bright yellow only makes you look faster too! I run and ride my bike in them and they are lightweight (7.5 ounces), durable, and roomy. They do run a little small. I normally wear a size ten, but in the Spira I wear a size ten and a half. I gave one pair to a friend because I like them so much. 2009-07-04 14:51:06 Spira Stinger Reviewer: Oscar H. from El Paso, Texas Overall: I primarily bought them as leisure wear. However I also purchased a pair of Lynco orthotics inserts and found that I could walk and jog in these shoes very comfortably. I use them when I workout on my elliptical trainer and they work wonders, my feet are never tired. I have pronation problems so the inserts provided the solution I needed. Try them you'll love them! I ran a 1:24 half marathon in them. Fairly light and good shock absorption in the forefoot. They feel especially good on downhill. 2009-04-29 08:39:05 Spira Stinger Reviewer: Anonymous from Delaware Overall: Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Moderate arch support Super light and comfortable - By far the best feeling shoe I've owned. These are so light you can barely tell you're wearing them. So light it feels like your walking around in your socks. 2008-11-10 07:11:53 Spira Stinger Reviewer: Emmett S from PA Overall: Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Moderate arch support Best Running Shoes I Ever Owned! I own hundreds of running shoes and these by far are the BEST! Comfort and looks, everybody asks where I got them. I now have three friends that swear by them. I ran a 2:55 marathon in them and was able to run the next day and I am 46. I just raced again in them yesterday. What a shoe!! They feel good, and work well with my joints. I have no pain in my legs, (except for the muscle, which is natural) due to the fact that the springs were absorbing the impact. I'm very impressed and pleased with the Spiras!! 2008-02-18 05:15:15 Spira Stinger Reviewer: Donna from Chicago Overall: Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: No arch support Looks cute anyway - I love the way this shoe looks. When I read that it was actually banned from the Boston Marathon one year, I had to have them. I wore them to the gym one day. Not a good shoe for working out in, not enough padding or support. I sprinted around the track a few times and did not feel any extra speed. My feet actually "tingled" from not having enough padding and support. But they are as cute as cute can be. Looking good only in my closet from now on. 2008-02-15 07:19:35 Spira Stinger Reviewer: Anonymous from Denton, TX Overall: Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: No arch support Nice racing flat - These shoes are LIGHT. Had a pr time of 42:03 for a 10k in these the first time out. 2008-02-13 12:59:57 Spira Stinger Reviewer: Anonymous from Francestown, NH Overall: Shoe Size: Felt a half size smaller than marked Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Excellent arch support Finally a shoe for Morton's Neuroma - These are the lightest, most comfortable running shoes I have ever worn. I thought they ran just slightly smaller than other brands I tried, so I ordered a half size up and they were perfect. I was looking specifically for the cushioning in the forefoot. What a difference they make. They are even comfortable without orthotics which is a first for me. 2007-10-15 05:39:40 Spira Stinger Reviewer: Anonymous from Indianapolis, IN Overall: Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Excellent arch support Great shoe; one flaw - This is a great feeling and looking shoe. However, I have had a tie down on each shoe tear loose, making them unfit for running. I don't know if this is a design flaw or if I just received a bad pair. Otherwise a great shoe. Will try to return for another pair. 2007-09-11 06:06:38 Spira Stinger Reviewer: Eric G from Wisconsin Overall: Shoe Size: Felt a half size smaller than marked Shoe Width: Felt narrower than marked Shoe Arch: Moderate arch support 2nd pair of Spiras, what a great shoe - I put on almost 600 Miles on my Spira Del Sols and Im just now starting to feel like they are wearing out, usually I feel this way about a show at about the 350 mile mark. So I saw the New Stinger model and bought a pair of these. What a Great shoe, very light and comfortable. My 5K time instantly improved by 2 minutes when I used these for the first time this morning. I like very light shoes (i.e. Air Zoom Vapor Streak IV). This shoe is light and yet very supportive. I notice a huge difference when running long distances. The springs must alleviate some of the muscle strain and I've noticed less fatigue. Highly recommended! 2007-07-23 06:30:49 Spira Stinger Reviewer: Michigan R from michigan Overall: Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: No arch support Stinger review - Unlike the Southern Calif. review, I found the Stinger to be very cushioned. I use orthotics so arch support is not an issue. I am 160lb. and felt the shoe was adequate for cushion through half-marathon and beyond. One MAJOR PROBLEM occurred with the heel crash pad on outsole though as it fell apart. I hope Spira addresses this problem. 2007-05-29 06:13:49 Spira Stinger Reviewer: Anonymous from southern california Overall: Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: No arch support Light shoe - This shoe looks great but has no cushion, am a marathoner with a medium build and the shoe is very light, but wow every step felt as if I had no shoes on at all, my legs were hurting only after running 6 miles. Not recommended. Top | ||
