This style appeared to have fewer seams with less possibility of irritation inside the shoe. This shoe lives up to the usual New Balance support and large toe box. What has been unusual and I don't like is how stiff these shoes are both in the soles and on the tops. It is taking quite awhile to break them in-for the soles to become more flexible and for the tops to soften. I've had to relace them a few times to get the tension right, especially to have enough tightness in the heel since I have a narrow heel (12AA). I chose this style from Zappos because the area around the ankle looked more like the old style NB tennis shoes, and they are very comfortable and do not rub.
