I normally wear New Balance 768, but they wear out way too quickly. The 1223's felt great on my feet but about a mile into my workout, my knees began to hurt. They felt the way they do when I walk/stand for too long in "regular" shoes on concrete floors. I finished my 5 miles, but limped around for the next few hours. My feet, ankles, and hips felt great. I sent them back because they were tight even without my Spenco orthotics. The length seemed small also. I am a bigger guy and was having some knee and foot issues with some other shoes. I tried these out and they have all gone away. I work out 6 days a week and feel great. The wider width is good for accommodating any heel cups or other orthotics. Cushioning is very comfortable and has held up well. I was very happy with the 1222, an excellent training shoe and great cushioning for marathons and 40-50 mile weeks. The 1223 is a lighter, more flexible shoe, but it lacks the cushioning of the 1222. I definitely feel slower with the 1223 (from right out of the box to after clocking 150 miles in them), so I don't plan on using them again.
