They are big and bulky. This shoe took a few walks to break in. The back near the heel pinches you a little until you wear them a few times. Great tread if you need tread. They are deep deep treads. Lots of cushion in terms of impact. When you search for wide shoes make sure you search from view all sneakers and then choose wide. I had a narrow selection the way I search which is how I wound up with these clunkers. Other shoes recommended by reviewer: Rockport Fayettes look nice. I had bunion surgery 3 years ago and I can't seem to wear sneakers or high heels since then. You may ask yourself how come not "sneakers," it's that they are all made to fit so tight and they don't offer wide or 2W in the store! It does tend to rub on the top of the foot and I have worn the shoe for two weeks now. I ordered a 1/2 size larger to be sure they were wide enough and the width is fine, but they do "trip me up" some and should be a 1/2 size shorter. I am not sure if I had ordered 1/2 size shorter if the width would have worked. I have to say, as someone who has big feet, looking for a good running shoe, I love these shoes! The way the gray leather comes up under the shoe somehow makes my foot look a lot smaller than it really is. The toe box is really roomy...I usually wear a 9.5 Wide and these 9 Wides are still very roomy on me. Another thing I like about these was how feminine they look.
