I continue to return to the Gel-Kayano because it's one of the few shoes that provide the pronation control and cushion that I need that's also available in my size. I wear a Size 16EE with a wide forefoot and have absolutely no issue with these shoes chafing or binding. I just started training for a marathon and have run up to 8 miles with absolutely no issues during or after. I only rate them 4 stars because I have yet to find a shoe that I love (maybe I'm too picky). Look:Shoe Arch: Excellent arch support Would buy again - My daughter has been purchasing Asics Gel Kayano’s for her last three running shoes. I decided to give them a try and I now know why. They have good support and firm heel cushioning which I like. By the way, my other daughter and my son both got Asics for this school year and both are very pleased even though they were not the Kayano. My other daughter chose the Volleytrainers and really likes them very much. Look:Shoe Size: Felt a half size smaller than marked Shoe Width: Felt narrower than marked Great shoe for flat feet - I have worn New Balance for years and never thought I could find anything more comfortable. I have flat feet. These shoes have more cushion and were comfortable from the get-go. However, whereas in New Balance I wore a size 12 2E, when I tried that size in these Kayanos they were too small and tight. The comparable size in these Asics is a 12.5 4E. Beware some online shoe stores do not sell all the widths; I've seen some with only 2E. Great Zappos, they have every size and every color. Definitely go for the 4E if you have wide feet. As long as Asics keeps making this shoe, I will keep buying it. Great shoe. Look:Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Great shoe - Lately, I've been bouncing around from one shoe to another, attempting to find my perfect shoe. The Gel-Kayano 14 has become my shoe of choice. The shoe is cushioned well, is stable both on and off road--and it fits great. Speaking of fit, I have to admit it took a few runs to break them in--probably a week (3 to 4 runs). I typically, have to go up a half size in other shoe brands but with Asics, I believe, they fit true to size, at least on my feet. I have medium arches, medium width feet--but I'm a 185 pounder so I lean towards stability shoes. Additionally, I wear thin, to average thickness running socks--not bulky cushioned. If you are a runner that likes to wear thicker cushioned socks I would go up a 1/2 size from your normal street shoe size--otherwise your street shoe size is probably about right. Performance, I think they are great...I've run the gambit, 3 miles, 6 miles, 10 miles, 12-15 mile trail and road combo...pretty much all surface and the shoe hasn't let me down yet. So in closing, I'm a 6 foot 185 pound guy (size 12 shoe) with medium/high arches...I wear thin socks...and I average about 35 miles per week. My Asics Kayano 14 shoes are absolutely my favorite pair of shoes I have ever bought. There is no substitute for the overall comfort of these shoes. My feet are a bit on the wide side. Ordered a 10.5 2E, and SNAP! right out of the box comfort. Wear these everyday for work and wouldn't change a thing about them. Zappos continues to trip me out with there unreal customer service and speedy delivery. I recently got back into running and I wanted to buy a good shoe to protect my joints. I figured that one typically gets what they pay for, so I decided to get an expensive shoe to ensure comfort. The first time I ran in them, the inside of my ankle hurt, a sure sign that I was pronating. This shoe was supposed to prevent this. Luckily, I had a spare pair of orthotics that corrected the problem. These shoes also gave me blisters on both little toes for the first week. The inside of the shoe was a little rough in that area. As usual, these running shoes look like something out of a Star Trek movie. That seems to be endemic in the running shoe business. I guess I'll be prepared when I'm out for a run and Scotty beams me up. Overall, the shoes are OK, but I imagine that I could have found a good pair for a lot less $$$. I've only been running for 4+ years, and my very first pair of running shoes was the Kayano 10s (which I adored). Since then, I've gone through 1 pair of the 11s, 3 pairs of the 12s and skipped ahead to my first pair of 14s. So far, they've been awesome; I'm extremely pleased with the cushioning these shoes have offered. Also, I've had minor problems with heel slipping with past shoes, but the memory foam addition to the 14 genuinely seems to make a difference.
