I put tape on the spots and everything is fine. The brown shoes look just as I expected. What I like best is that I can wear my orthotics with these shoes. I have a very hard time finding shoes that fit. I have small feet with medium width, but they're thin (from ball of foot to top of foot). My podiatrist tells me to buy a 5.5 next time and wear the orthotic over the removable arch support. The shoe fits much better now, but next time I'll get the larger size. Elastic strap provides for customized fit, and the shoe even accommodates an orthotic. Choice of colors are basic but so is the shoe. What keeps it from being "perfect" is the flimsiness factor. Obviously not designed for hiking or running, the shoe doesn't hold up well even when used for errands in the neighborhood or short walks to the local bus stop. After a few weeks, the shoe begins losing shape. There's a mesh, but also a canvas-type material. Just one thin layer of canvas; it's not lined or anything. The effect feels really cheap, frankly. On top of that, the toe box is pretty wide, and if it's roomy, without any lining or support, it will just pucker as you move, and, again, look frankly cheap. There is no arch. Also, on the outside where the elastic is attached, it rubs. So you have to cushion this area with a band aid or something. Ideal for orthotics. The elastic strap is wide and should hold the shoe in place but it's too long and not adjustable which meant I couldn't tighten it to hold my foot in place. A narrower or shorter shoes wouldn't have helped. Wonderfully light weight shoes and ideal for summer but I had to return them since they just didn't fit my feet.
