I bought mine in Chicago and I could seriously walk 100 miles a day in them. I'm so glad I found this website to replace my current pair. I will say that with the suede-covered wedge heel you have to be a bit careful about getting nicks and scratches on it. I have a hard time finding tennis shoes that won't hurt my toes on hard courts. After countless broken toe nails I finally found shoes that are nice to my feet - these are so soft!! Not sure how long they will last but I don't even care! And the fact that I can get them in 2AA is an added bonus. I wish NB was a little more consistent in their sizing. I probably run through 4-5 pairs of tennis shoes a year. I loved the 803s but they were way too big and I had to wear the inserts along with my custom orthotics. For the 1003, I had to take out the inserts. The shoe feels very heavy to me but it does provide much better support to prevent ankle rolls. The toe box is nice and wide. I wish they would have put more cushioning in this shoe though, like the 803. The tongue tab is where the tab should always have been. They didn't even need breaking in. The extra rubber on the toe for drag is good too and in play you don't twist your foot when running from side to side, it nice and solid. These are an upgrade in technology from my first pair -- they are a little stiffer and seem to provide more lateral support. I had to go up a full size from what I normally wear and I have a narrow foot, which is the reason I found NB to begin with. The toe box on these shoes is a little wider than my last pair but the shoe is narrow enough through the body for that not to be problem when playing Generally I think NB is a little boring in their exterior styling, but these have a little more punch than the other tennis shoes available.
