I need cushioning, support and a wide toe box. Being active all day, my feet would hurt with other shoes. I came across the NB 1009 and what a difference. I am buying a 2nd pair. I have a tailor's bunion and no other shoe gave me the comfort I need. Thank you New Balance. 2008-09-13 07:14:40 New Balance WX1009 Reviewer: from New Jersey Overall: Shoe Size: Felt a half size smaller than marked Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Moderate arch support Good all rounder - I have worn the predecessor to this shoe, the 1007, and found that I needed to go up half a size for this one. I find this shoe to be supportive and cushioning, which I need with my high arch. I use this shoe for walking, running, and gym. 2008-08-25 08:47:18 New Balance WX1009 Reviewer: Pat H from Wolfe City ,Texas Overall: Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Excellent arch support These shoes are super comfortable and I like that you can take out the insoles, as I have orthotics that I have to put in my shoes. My foot care specialist actually recommended this brand and I am very happy with them. Other shoes recommended by reviewer: any of the new balance I really do like them 2008-08-06 19:30:21 New Balance WX1009 Reviewer: Anon from Cincinnati Overall: Shoe Size: Felt a half size larger than marked Shoe Width: Felt wider than marked Shoe Arch: Moderate arch support Tried these shoes at a New Balance store. Sizing is very mysterious. The 8.5 wide was too short but the width was fine; 9 wide was too long and wide. While I will not criticize this shoe, as it seems to work for many people, it does not work for my foot anatomy. 2008-08-04 06:11:55 New Balance WX1009 Reviewer: Sarah from Dolgeville, NY Overall: Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Moderate arch support WX1009 - I work out everyday, so having a versatile workout shoe is important. The WX1009 is comfortable on my running days, and supportive for my weight training. Overall, the shoe has performed to my expectations and I am happy with it. 2008-07-29 17:52:14 New Balance WX1009 Reviewer: Kimberly A from Durant, OK Overall: Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Excellent arch support Awesome Shoes - Excellent pair of shoes. I was impressed from the time I put them on. I have fibromyalgia so my feet hurt if I don't have the right fit and comfortable shoes. I would highly recommend this shoe. 2008-07-22 20:54:45 New Balance WX1009 Reviewer: from New York Overall: Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Moderate arch support Very happy with purchase - Ive been a New balance fan since high school (15 yrs) and have been wearing the cross trainers for the past few years. I think the 1000 series last longer than a year and Im very happy with this new pair. 2008-07-08 09:05:03 New Balance WX1009 Reviewer: Alice from Lake Havasu City, AZ Overall: Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Excellent arch support Love these shoes!!! I love these shoes. I walk a lot and they are so comfortable. They fit well and look great. I have the pink and white ones and I like them so much, I got a second pair. 2008-06-14 12:58:08 New Balance WX1009 Reviewer: from Laguna Beach, California Overall: Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Excellent arch support I love these shoes! I like these shoes so much that I bought a pink pair and a blue pair. They are very comfortable and have lots of padding. I wore them for walking in Boston and my feet didn't hurt at all! 2008-06-09 09:40:23 New Balance WX1009 Reviewer: Mary M from SF Bay Area Overall: Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Arch: Moderate arch support This shoe provides the perfect amount of support and comfort. I do aerobic workout tapes and out door walking with a little running. It's a great shoe. 2008-06-09 06:15:32 New Balance WX1009 Reviewer: from Hartselle, Alabama Overall: Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Moderate arch support New Balance - I am very happy with the New Balance tennis shoes. They look good and are very comfortable. They are light weight and also allow your feet to breath. I bought them because I liked the looks of them and I was not disappointed. The fit true to size. Zappos did a great job delivered them to my door the next day. I would recommend ordering from Zappos and have told my friends about it. 2008-05-30 14:19:33 New Balance WX1009 Reviewer: Overall: Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt wider than marked Shoe Arch: Moderate arch support Great shoe - Great shoe although still a little wide in the toe area (I bought 2A) ortho fit in nicely. 2008-05-13 05:06:52 New Balance WX1009 Reviewer: Shelle from Atlanta Overall: Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Moderate arch support More like the NB WX 1007 - I've been loyal to NB cross trainers 1000 series for years. The WX 1007 were my favorite model. Unfortunately, it was replaced with the 1008 and did not feel anything like the 1007s. I blistered terribly with the 1008. The 1009 fits more like the 1007 and I like the look of the shoe. 2008-05-10 09:24:25 New Balance WX1009 Reviewer: from Walnut Creek, CA Overall: Shoe Size: Felt a half size smaller than marked Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Moderate arch support Not enough support for cross-training - I am baffled by the descriptions of this shoe. I found it to be very stiff and to not offer enough support, especially in the toe box. Moreover, the shoe runs small. I wear a 9.5 dress shoe and usually buy a size 10 in athletic shoes. I would need a 10.5 in this shoe, as my toes are terribly crowded in the 10. I used to buy this shoe every year, but NB changed the design and since then its been an utter disappointment. I am returning these for an Asics cross-trainer. I commented that my heel lifted up a little, and he said that was normal until the shoe broke in. When I got home I noticed that it was a wide size, and I just couldn't rest easy until I had tried the normal width, so I ordered it from Zappos. To my surprise, it actually felt too SHORT as opposed to too narrow. The heel situation was the same. So I guess the know-it-all clerk knew it all after all! The moral of this story is that it can sometimes be hard to tell if a shoe is too short, or if it just needs to be a little wider. 2008-04-01 07:06:14 New Balance WX1009 Reviewer: from Califiornia Overall: Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Moderate arch support Terrific Shoe - I have a wide foot die to a bunion. I was looking for good lateral support as I am a group exercise instructor. This shoe was perfect from the minute I put it on-- no "break-in" needed. Looks great even on my 9 1/2 size foot. True to size. Fantastic! Other shoes recommended by reviewer: None other! 2008-03-19 11:56:07 New Balance WX1009 Reviewer: from Springfield, Missouri Overall: Shoe Size: Felt a half size larger than marked Shoe Width: Felt wider than marked Shoe Arch: Moderate arch support Right Size and Extra Cushion a MUST for this shoe. I am a Jazzerciser who needs great cushioning with lots of lateral support. I am a heavy and large body type with weak knees. BOO HOO, I was so sad when I got this shoe. I had such HIGH expectations based off of the last versions reviews. I have bought several NB shoes before and have always been a 9.5 Wide but this shoe was much too big in length and width so it has caused slippage issues. The shoe was nowhere near what I was expecting for cushioning, I was expecting the lateral support of a trainer with the cushioning of a running shoe no luck. All in all, the shoe as is was ok but defiantly a disappointment. THE STORY CONTINUES while out shopping with Mom (read, shes buying) went into an actual NB store and told them my woes they properly fitted me with the correct size, which in this shoe is a 9 wide AND put in a specialized cushioning insert (Pressure Relief Insoles by Browns New Balance). Now the shoes are JUST DREAMY!!! Every thing I was looking for! 2008-03-14 07:52:33 New Balance WX1009 Reviewer: Ayanna from Michigan Overall: Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Excellent arch support Excellent Shoe - I love the new balance WX1009. It's very comfortable. It's great for running and walking. I also love that it came in 10.5! 10 would have been fine but that extra cushion is perfect. This shoe is a little pricey (I wavered on that a bit) but I only buy New Balance tennis shoes and I know the wear and tear on them is pretty good!:) 2008-02-25 23:39:38 New Balance WX1009 Reviewer: Moe from Seattle, WA Overall: Shoe Size: Felt a full size larger than marked Shoe Width: Felt wider than marked Shoe Arch: Moderate arch support Okay looking, but runs large - I have a medium build with bad knees so I was looking for a supportive shoe with ample cushioning. I thought that I had found the perfect shoes in the WX1009. I was very disappointed with the shoe when it arrived. The shoe ran large in both size and width...and it felt more like a stability shoe than the cushion shoe that I was after. I'm continuing my search...Boo. 2008-02-20 16:07:04 New Balance WX1009 Reviewer: Matilda from New York Overall: Shoe Size: Felt a half size smaller than marked Shoe Width: Felt wider than marked Shoe Arch: No arch support Eh, good for ankle/lateral support, but that's it - I know trainers don't have that much cushioning to begin with, but my foot was swimming in this shoe and there was no cushioning to speak of really. The ankle support was really good though if that's what you're looking for. Top | ||
