I'm going back to the Montrails. The soles wore out extremely fast and the shoe offers very little in the way of rigidity or support. Very comfortable for casual use, but not particularly well suited for trail running or hiking. Other shoes recommended by reviewer: Montrail Hardrock - the industry standard trail runner. 2008-08-05 05:08:17 New Balance MT811 Reviewer: Dave from Long Island Overall: Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Excellent arch support These shoes were very comfortable from the minute I put them on. The day after they arrived, I took a 4 mile "power walk" and had no issues whatsoever. They are very light and they are well vented. I would buy these again. 2008-08-04 06:17:27 New Balance MT811 Reviewer: Steve Y from Dallas, Texas Overall: Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Excellent arch support New balance runners - I purchased the NB runners because I have a "hard to fit foot". Nike's are way too short in a 14, and way too long in a 15. Adidas was not an option because they also were too short in 14, too long in 15. These NB fit the bill great. They are pretty true to size, maybe just a little short in left foot, but otherwise okay. The toe box isn't too wide, and the lacing system gives a little variability to how you actually tie them. They're comfortable for long periods and look okay to the eye. One small criticism is that they are pretty warm. I don't think the fabric breathes as well as advertised, but it isn't a big problem. Wayne, Indiana Overall: Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Excellent arch support Back to basics....exercise - My husband had surgery on both feet in February of this year for plantar fasciitis. He also started a weight loss program this spring. He wanted to begin some kind of exercise program that his feet would tolerate. So he started with these New Balance shoes and has been able to ride an exercise bike, do short walks, and even play some backyard volleyball! He's extremely happy with the support and fit of this shoe! I have no complaints for this shoe other than it sized a tiny bit large for me. I am not sure if that isn't just because my last shoes were so snug. I use this shoe for running trails in Alaska as well as golfing comfortably. I recommend this shoe to active people everywhere. 2008-07-15 05:13:03 New Balance MT811 Reviewer: from Northern New Jersey Overall: Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Great sneaker - My son is very pleased with this sneaker. It looks nice yet it accommodates his custom made orthotic. We highly recommend this sneaker. Good all around cross trainer. My husband isn't comfortable in narrow fitting shoes so he tends to shy away from Adidas and Nike. This is his third pair of New Balance in this style. He really likes them. 2008-07-09 11:52:42 New Balance MT811 Reviewer: from Michigan Overall: Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Moderate arch support Ugly, but comfy - Light, well ventilated, ugly, and comfortable. 2008-07-09 06:21:43 New Balance MT811 Reviewer: Barry H from Miami, FL Overall: Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Moderate arch support Great Trail Running Shoe - Shoes are not good for street running because the knobby sole makes it feel like youre running on rocks. I have never had a better shoe in these categories. This is my second pair, and if it is available when this pair wears out, guess what I'm going to do? 2008-06-27 13:06:35 New Balance MT811 Reviewer: Blake from State College, Pennsylvania Overall: Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Moderate arch support Best NB shoes I've ever had - I just ordered these shoes around 6pm last night and they're already here! I love you Zappos. I've had 3 other pairs of lower end NB all terrain shoes before and I decided to try some more expensive ones for a change. Boy, does it make a difference! I usually wear a 14 because my foot is so wide, it makes it hard to find a 13 4E, but Zappos had them and they feel great. These shoes have a neat little tightening mechanism that makes the shoe snug all around when you pull the laces tight, making a truly excellent fit. I am very impressed with these shoes and the insanely fast service from Zappos. I will definitely be buying all of my running shoes from them in the future. Also, I should mention that I have extremely flat feet and NB shoes usually don't have those annoying arch support blobs in the shoe which really hurt my foot. So, if you have high arches and need those, this shoe does not have them (a very small one if anything). Other shoes recommended by reviewer: All NB all terrain. 2008-06-23 06:28:34 New Balance MT811 Reviewer: Paul A from Pittsburgh, PA Overall: Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Excellent arch support Great Shoe for WIDE Feet - I have very wide [sensitive] feet, especially in the toe box. These shoes were comfortable right out of the box, with no break-in period necessary! I first wore them for about one half an hour indoors, and the next time for roughly 7 hours on a 34 mile endurance hike, over some very rough terrain. They are also well ventilated, and my socks were not that sweaty when I changed them at the checkpoints. I love these shoes! I'm going to buy a second pair for later use [in case the model changes]. Also, I switched to the MT811 all-terrain running shoe after the terrain leveled out, with great results as well [for roughly 5 hours of road/trail]. Both shoes fit well from the moment that I put them on [and considering the very limited initial use], and I HIGHLY recommend them for anyone that suffers with the affliction of very wide feet like mine! You don't even need to run to feel this. The cushioning is excellent; you wear these all day. Although I would not do it because I always find NB's ugly. 2008-06-10 15:52:27 New Balance MT811 Reviewer: from Reading, PA Overall: Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Moderate arch support Finally... I have the world's craziest feet: high-arched, extra-wide and only 8 to 8 1/2 in length. After being assured by my colleagues that I indeed do not have congenitally-maligned feet, I went to Zappos to find a pair that suites me. Few shoes appear when I put my foot "specs" in, but these baby's popped up and ordered them. Size 8 4E is not a size you normally come across. They were available and they feel like a dream. Light, cushioned, "airy", very comfortable. Also rugged and well-built. Great for light runs and cross training (I don't trail run, but most shoes fall apart with any activity). Highly recommended for those with alien feet like myself. Thanks Zappos for a speedy order and for the excellent runner's guide. No more over-pronating for me, no more sore ankles/knees. Woo-hoo... 2008-06-09 09:04:17 New Balance MT811 Reviewer: John H from Southern California Overall: Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Moderate arch support MT811 - These shoes do not live up to my experience with New Balance products. If there was a way to return them, I would. When running, you can feel the road under your feet. This is not the case with all the other New Balance shoes I have on the shelf. My previous NB trail running shoes were fantastic, but these just don't measure up. 2008-06-06 13:55:55 New Balance MT811 Reviewer: from Sarasota, FL Overall: Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Excellent arch support Comfy, indeed - The EE width is exactly what I needed (and not loose at the heel either). The extra room in the toe box makes all the difference for these tired feet. Right out of the box, my grouchy old tootsies turned happy. Eccos used to be my favorite, but ECCO must have changed their patterns. New styles are too narrow for my comfort anymore. So, glad I tried the NB's. 2008-06-02 05:30:41 New Balance MT811 Reviewer: from New Haven, CT Overall: Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Moderate arch support Very light, comfortable. Good gripping sole. Less cushioning that street running shoe. 2008-05-29 19:14:03 New Balance MT811 Reviewer: from Germantown, Maryland Overall: Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Moderate arch support New Balance MT811 - Finally shoes that are wide enough for my feet! They are comfortable when jogging, though I recommend wearing them some to break them in for your feet before running. 2008-05-28 05:36:04 New Balance MT811 Reviewer: Bifrig from Massachusetts Overall: Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Moderate arch support Great Shoe - This New Balance sneaker is very comfortable. I need a shoe with a lot of pronator support and this shoe works well. There is great ventilation; you can actually feel the wind blow inside your shoes, which is awesome on hot days. Other shoes recommended by reviewer: Just about any New Balance shoe. 2008-05-27 09:03:06 New Balance MT811 Reviewer: from Tampa Overall: Shoe Size: Felt a half size smaller than marked Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Moderate arch support I purchased these for a friend who has a heel spur. He also works 10 hours a day on his feet. These help with providing comfort and cushioning to his feet. 2008-05-26 17:13:56 New Balance MT811 Reviewer: J. D from Yankton, SD Overall: Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Excellent arch support Great shoe from the get go... comfortable and great looking. I bought a second pair the next day. Zappos is as super store to work with. 2008-05-21 16:55:58 New Balance MT811 Reviewer: Jdh from Los Angeles, CA Overall: Shoe Size: Felt a half size smaller than marked Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Moderate arch support Very Good, but not superb - I shouldn't complain, because finding a 13B in ANYTHING is difficult, and I'm very thankful Zappos stocks as many narrow-sized shoes as they do. Basically the Brooks Addiction 6 is my gym-shoe, and I wanted a shoe for walking, running, hill climbing, etc. The Propét Stability Walker I initially bought didn't fit well, so I returned them and upgraded to this New Balance. Out of the box, they're pretty comfortable, very light, and breathe easily. I'm sure they'll be a good shoe for the SoCal environment. They do feel just a bit small in length, and I sure do wish shoe companies would get the idea that narrow feet usually have higher arches, because the arch support is (as marked) moderate, but not nearly as great as the Brooks. Still, overall, it's a good shoe for a hard-to-fit foot. I'd have bought another pair of Brooks, but they don't seem to have the rugged soles that the New Balances do. Take note, Brooks! Other shoes recommended by reviewer: Brooks Addiction 6 2008-05-15 08:21:32 New Balance MT811 Reviewer: Robert F from New York Overall: Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Moderate arch support Great shoes, though a little drafty - These shoes are very comfortable and offer better than average support. I'm not a runner so they're used as an every day wear shoe. The fabric upper is very breathable though on colder, very windy days they seem a little drafty, so stick to your boots for those days. 2008-05-07 17:28:51 New Balance MT811 Reviewer: Cory from Sand Lake, NY Overall: Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Moderate arch support New Balance's MT811 - I haven't bought a pair of "plain" running shoes in a while - I've been buying "waterproof" shoes to try to keep my feet dry during weekend activities. So it was a delight to wear nice, light, breathable running shoes again. These 811 are very light, and I have room to move my toes despite my square shaped feet. Very comfortable right out of the box. 2008-05-05 05:21:52 New Balance MT811 Reviewer: from Toronto, Canada Overall: Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Excellent arch support Recommended - Good shoe for a larger runner with wide feet. Feels very comfortable and light.
