I normally wear an 8-8 1/2 and from the reviews I ordered an 8 and they fit great. The mesh fabric on the top and sides allow for ventilation; however, not so good if you are going to be outside in a lot of wet weather. I purchased these shoes for a trip that I expected to do a lot of walking on... I am currently in the midst of the trip and am very happy with the performance of this shoe. Support has been great. I am glad it isn't colder because I don't think I could wear thick enough socks to keep my feet warm (I followed others' advice and bought a half size down... for spring, summer and fall weather that's a good idea, but maybe not for winter, especially considering the mesh). I think the main complaint I have is that I prefer a squarer toe, but that's something I was aware of before buying these shoes. Ooh.
