Great support for roots and rocks. They feel light and comfortable. Great support for running on uneven terrain. 2010-01-06 03:08:45 Brooks Cascadia 4 Reviewer: Glyn Y from NC Overall: Shoe Size: Felt a half size smaller than marked Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Excellent arch support Excellent shoe. Great support, the most comfortable Brooks I have worn. If you need a bit of extra cushion, this is the one. Toebox wider than most, but not too wide. Would buy again. 2009-12-30 12:10:28 Brooks Cascadia 4 Reviewer: Anonymous from Tucson, Arizona Overall: Shoe Size: Felt a half size smaller than marked Shoe Width: Felt narrower than marked Shoe Arch: Excellent arch support The blue/black is gorgeous! I'm just an occasional athletic shoe-wearer: to the gym a few times a week (weight & elliptical, no treadmill, aerobics or other sports), and to walk my dog a couple of miles around the neighborhood every day. The last pair of Brooks I had were great and lasted me a couple of years with this type of light use, and I'm sure these are just as well-made (my old Nikes fell apart after just a few months). About the sizing: if you're in between sizes like me (sometimes 7 1/2, sometimes 8), order a half-size larger than the largest size of your range. I got 8 1/2s and they feel perfect. My foot is also on the narrow side so I have no problem with the narrowness, but folks with a wider foot may have issues with the fit. 2009-12-03 16:14:00 Brooks Cascadia 4 Reviewer: Claudia from Las Vegas, Nevada Overall: Shoe Size: Felt a half size smaller than marked Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Excellent arch support Love them. I love these shoes. They fit beautifully and make me feel like I can just keep going and going like that bunny. They offer amazing stability, even for trail running. My contact to the ground is solid and my ankles never feel stressed or close to twisting. 2009-09-30 07:48:15 Brooks Cascadia 4 Reviewer: Anonymous from North Carolina Overall: I run between 15-20 miles a week mainly on gravel/dirt roads. These shoes transition well on to pavement for a few miles. I loved the Cascadia 3, but was disappointed in how fast they wore out only 300 miles. Hopefully these will last a little longer. 2009-09-15 12:39:10 Brooks Cascadia 4 Reviewer: Carol C from Franklin, Tennessee Overall: Zappos is the Best!!! I have ordered from them many times, buying boots, athletic shoes, and sandals. I have always been pleased with the service and speed of delivery. I like the Brooks cascadia 4. They are very comfortable. I usually wear a 7 to 7 1/2 womens and decided to order these in a size 8 on the advice of fellow reviewers. I am glad that I did. They fit perfectly!! Thanks Zappos. You are my favorite place for shoes! 2009-08-18 15:02:15 Brooks Cascadia 4 Reviewer: Leslie Hynes from Paxton, MA Overall: I was looking for a comfy, sturdy running shoe after my foot surgery. This sneaker is very supportive and looks great. I got the hot pink ones and receive alot of compliments. They are hard to find in retail stores too. Zappos shipped quickly as usual. I really like these sneakers! 2009-06-12 14:35:37 Brooks Cascadia 4 Reviewer: Karen from San Diego, CA Overall: These shoes are amazing. I bought these for trail running and they are perfect. The color is dark enough (I got the teal and black) that the dirt doesn't show. They are soo comfortable that you almost have to check to make sure your feet are hitting the ground. One tip, following other reviews I did get a 1/2 size bigger than I normally wear and they were perfect. Zappos totally rocks!!! 2009-05-28 22:35:26 Brooks Cascadia 4 Reviewer: Coralee Overall: I had previously purchased a pair of Brooks Cascadia 3 from Zappos and LOVE THEM!!! I decided I needed a second pair of Brooks and so I purchased the Cascadia 4. I have a very wide foot and purchased an 8.5 (so I could wear socks and have plenty of toe room). There are extremely comfortable. No "break-in" period. I love them and even purchased a pair for my Mother on Mother's Day. She said it was the only pair of "tennis shoes" she has ever put on that she didn't have to break-in. WOO HOO! Gotta make mom happy! I would definitely recommend purchasing. Just buy a 1/2 size larger than you normally would for a comfortable fit. 2009-05-10 12:48:51 Brooks Cascadia 4 Reviewer: Anonymous from Alabama Overall: Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Moderate arch support This is my first pair of trail runners, however, I can tell a great difference in running in these versus road shoes. The treads really grab onto roots and the shoe does not feel too heavy. They are only good for a mile or two on roads, though. I highly recommend them as a good trail running shoe. For the reviews that say this shoe would be good for hiking, but not running: this shoe is a "trail" running shoe; however, it does do better than a lot of trail runners on the pavement with a good amount of cushioning. I"m 62 200 pounds but run like I'm 300. A lot of my trail running doesn't always end on the trail and this shoe makes a great transition. Anyway, the improvement on the 4 compared to the 3 is they are more comfy out of the box. The first pair I almost returned because where the tongue meets laces was so tight it killed my feet, I had to loosen them on hikes, but then I felt like I'd roll my ankles, so I'd tighten them, but be in pain. They did finally break in. Mm, could still use a little more support. I tend to roll my ankles very easily, but only did once in my 3's, which is relatively great. The 3's also didn't last as long as I wished for, but over-all a great shoe. I purchased the Cascadia 4 about two months ago. The shoe performs great in many ways. Handles mud, rocks/roots w/ease. Have not had a problem with traction at all. Great toe protection. The cushioning is superb and I was able to run a 10-miler in them right out of the box w/o hot spots or blisters. The only cons are the laces seem to come untied fairly easily when wet. (Or maybe its just how I am tying them?) Also, if you have a narrow foot (as I do) you lose some stability on uneven surfaces as you just can't tie the shoes tight enough to secure a narrow foot. However, that's my problem, not the shoes. Unless you have narrow feet, this is a great shoe for trail running. I only wish it came in narrow and it would be the only trail running show for me. 2009-04-20 15:14:18 Brooks Cascadia 4 Reviewer: Becky from NE PA Overall: Shoe Size: Felt true to size Shoe Width: Felt true to width Shoe Arch: Moderate arch support My new running sneaker - I bought these in the pink/gray for myself and the teal for my daughter. We run six days a week, two and a half miles. I love how flexible they are. We run wooded trails, uneven meadow trails, and stone drives, so the traction is wonderful. I think I have a wide foot, and they don't seem as wide as my other trail running shoes from last year, but I am not having any problems.I ordered a half size larger than my regular shoe size, as is recommended for running. Lots of toe room! 2009-04-17 14:48:01 Brooks Cascadia 4 Reviewer: Rayfellet from Oregon Overall: This shoe is a good trail running shoe but beware of wet concrete. Because of the vibram style rubber on the sole it has a tendency to slip on wet concrete....walking a large lab when he spots a cat can be ugly, I know. Overall this shoe performed great on trails, nice grip and plenty of shock absorbency and flex for people with high arches. They work really well for both activities, I could own one pair of shoes and these would be them! 2009-04-03 15:59:14 Brooks Cascadia 4 Reviewer: Anonymous from Southern California Overall: Shoe Size: Felt a half size smaller than marked Shoe Width: Felt narrower than marked Runs small and tight. I'd never worn the Brooks brand before and ordered it because I thought it was so beautiful in the turquoise/black combination, and in person it's absolutely striking. Even the laces are two-tone complimentary. My choice for an athletic shoe for years has been Nike, which fits my somewhat narrow foot better than any other I'd tried. Generally I wear an 8 to 8 1/2 and in a Nike I wear an 8 1/2. I ordered this Brook's Cascadia 4 in an 8 1/2 and found it to be too small, but a 9 would definitely have been too large. Not only was it small, but also tight, which is unusual for me. I did return it, with regret, because it is so darned beautiful [in the turquoise]. I'd say definitely order up a half-size or a whole size. 2009-03-23 18:50:19 Brooks Cascadia 4 Reviewer: Anonymous Overall: Really cool shoe, but for me the comfort wasn't adequate for running. These would be a great for walking or hiking. I'm an under-pronator so really pound the pavement and I need lots of cushion. Even with adding additional cushioned insoles, my knees and back were hurting in these shoes. The toe box is nice and roomy though, and the mesh material keeps your feet cool. Top | ||
